COLUMBUS, Ohio — After a morning full of cardio in downtown Columbus, the winners of the OhioHealth Capital City Half & Quarter Marathon and Columbus Promise 5K have been announced.
Organizers said that about 12,000 people participate in the race every year.
Half Marathon Results
The overall winner was Sam Duncan who finished with a time of 1:08:26. His average pace was 5:14 minutes per mile.
The other top finishers were Zach Kreft, who finished at 1:09:22 and Andrew Ye with a time of 1:09:38.
The top three finishers in the Half Marathon for women were Amy Haas, who finished at 1:21:25, Chelsea Hall, who finished at 1:21:31 and Makenzie Best who ran for a total of 1:26:11.
Quarter Marathon Results
Finishing the Quarter Marathon first with a time of 34:55 was Daniel Mata, who averaged 5:20 minutes per mile.
Following behind Mata was Jack Croskey with a time of 43:16 and Mitchell Whittaker finishing at 43:42.
Kali Carney took the lead with a time of 42:18 as her average pace was 6:28 minutes per mile.
Elena Shepherd took second for women with a time of 46:55 and Kristen Forbriger, in third, finished with a time of 48:12.
5K Results
Mylor Acquaah finished the 5K first with a time of 18:28 and an average pace of 5:57 minutes a mile.
Ernani Arifa (19:14) and Gabe Kornick (19:43) finished close behind.
For women, Caitlyn Garner led with a time of 21:59 and a pace of 7:05 minutes per mile.
Megan Wells (23:03) and Serena-Jenna Rabi (24:03) came in second and third.
The half marathon and quarter marathon began on Saturday, April 27 at 8 a.m. and the Columbus Promise 5K kicked off 30 minutes later. The race began at the corner of South High and West Town streets, adjacent to the Columbus Commons.
As runners crossed the finish line, they were celebrated at the Giant Eagle Curbside Express Recovery Zone where they received their Official Finisher's Medal and food and water to refuel.
