Man sentenced to at least 4 years in fatal stabbing outside Franklin County Roosters last year

As part of a plea agreement, Gallardo pleaded guilty to voluntary manslaughter and was handed a sentence of four to six years in prison.

COLUMBUS, Ohio — A man who fatally stabbed someone at a Roosters restaurant in west Franklin County last year received a sentence Monday and will spend at least four years in prison.

According to the Franklin County Clerk of Courts, 37-year-old Jorge Gallardo was originally charged with murder and pleaded not guilty. As part of a plea agreement, Gallardo pleaded guilty to voluntary manslaughter and was handed a sentence of four to six years in prison.

Franklin County Municipal Court documents say Gallardo and an unnamed victim got into an argument at the restaurant located at 4650 West Broad Street around 10:30 p.m. on Nov. 4.

The argument turned into a fight and Gallardo reportedly stabbed and killed the victim with a multi-tool.

Detectives interviewed witnesses who confirmed the argument and fight between the victim and Gallardo.

During an interview with detectives, Gallardo said he used his hands to defend himself from the victim while holding the tool, but he doesn't remember stabbing the victim or where he put the tool.
