Police: 5 arrested following protest outside of Boeing facility in Heath

Police said protesters supporting Palestine were stationed at all of the entrances at the facility so that employees couldn't enter or leave.

HEATH, Ohio — Five people were arrested after activists supporting Palestine protested outside a Boeing manufacturing facility in Licking County Monday morning, police said.

The protest happened at the Boeing Co facility at 801 Irving Wick Drive West in Heath.

Heath Police Chief David Harren said protesters were stationed at all of the entrances at the facility so that employees couldn't enter or leave.

Two bridges in the area were blocked off. Harren said a man and a woman attached themselves to one of the bridges.

A disabled vehicle blocked the road. Harren said another man and woman were cemented to the outside of the car.

Heath police called the Newark Division of Fire to assist with the incident. Fire officials worked to free the people hanging from the bridge and those cemented to the vehicle.

Harren said the four protesters were taken into custody and are facing charges, including a felony obstruction charge. One other person was later arrested. No injuries were reported.

In a statement, Boeing said it is working with local law enforcement as the investigation continues.
