Spotty fall color should start to arrive in places in the next week

While it may feel like summer, fall color is on the way.

COLUMBUS, Ohio — While it may not feel like fall yet, some places across Ohio are starting to notice a bit of a change.

According to the Ohio Department of Natural Resources Fall Color Foresters, some trees such as the Ohio Buckeye and Black Walnut are already showing signs of fall color.

"We should really start to see changes by the end of this month, the end of September, in areas of northern Ohio," David Parrott said.

Typically we see peak fall color in Columbus from Oct. 15 to Oct. 25.

For fall color to really peak, foresters say that a stretch of sunny weather and cool nights will help speed up the process.

ODNR is expected to drop an update every week on their website through the fall season. You can find those updates here.
