We are starting off the week with a big and bright moon that will be full by Monday night.
he Full Harvest Moon arrives at 10:52 p.m. Monday and it will be easy to find.
It will rise in the east about ten minutes after sunset.
Named the Full Harvest Moon because it is the Full Moon closest to the autumnal equinox, which happened last week.
The Harvest Moon can happen in September or October (again it coincides with the proximity of the changing of the seasons) so this month’s Full Moon is known as the Full Corn Moon because this is the time of year corn is harvested. It can also be called the Barley Moon.
If you are out and about during the evening hours this week look in the south to southwest sky to find a trio of planetary wonders.
Mars, Saturn, and Jupiter will stretch across the sky.
Mars will be in the south with Saturn a little lower in the SSW and Jupiter near the horizon in the SW sky. The three will look like bright stars but you will know they are not. Above is how the three will appear on Wednesday night at around 8:45 p.m.
When you are out in the evenings, look for the classic fall constellation known as Aries.
Aries is the ram and in astrology, it is the first sign of the zodiac.
The constellation represents the ram that possessed the Golden Fleece that was Jason and the Argonauts' prize in Greek mythology.
