COLUMBUS, Ohio — If you have a telescope you can use the moon to help you spot Uranus. The two will make a close approach on Sunday evening.
The moon will hang just below and right of the planet.
The first quarter moon will arrive on Thursday morning at 5:45 a.m. Look for the moon in the evening sky.
If you spot the moon notice what surrounds it. There’s a famous asterism known as the "Winter Circle." It’s actually a hexagon made up of some of the brighter stars in the night sky.
The moon will be passing through it later in the week.
The planets of Mars and Venus will make a close approach on Saturday morning. The two will be in the southeastern sky before sunrise.
Venus will be higher and shining brighter. If you have a clear view of the horizon look for Saturn and Mercury just below and left of those.
Happy hunting!
