Rain, wind could put a damper on trick-or-treating across central Ohio

The timing of the rain and wind and the expected amount of people to be outdoors Thursday evening has led to the issuance of the Weather Impact Day.

COLUMBUS, Ohio — A Weather Impact Day has been declared for Thursday late afternoon and evening due to the impending wind and rain.

Many central Ohioans will be out for trick-or-treat that evening, so be sure to plan ahead before stepping outside.

A strong cold front will make its way through central Ohio late Thursday and into Thursday night. While we will experience unseasonably warm (and near record-breaking) temperatures through Thursday, that will change later this week.

As of now, models pinpoint rain chances between 5 p.m. and midnight. Rain amounts could exceed 0.50" in some spots.

Widespread thunderstorms or heavy downpours are not likely, but the timing of the rain and wind and the expected amount of people to be outdoors Thursday evening has led to the issuance of the Weather Impact Day.

After this front, we should look to dry out for Friday, with cooler air moving back in for the start of the weekend. The temperature will return to the 70s by Sunday.
