COLUMBUS, Ohio — A Weather Impact Day has been declared for Thursday due to impending rain and winds.
Moderate to heavy rain will start falling across central Ohio around midnight into early Thursday morning. The rain will continue until about 9 a.m.
The rain will cause water ponding on roads, causing some difficulties during the morning commute. Travelers may also experience reduced visibility.
In addition, wind gusts up to 30 mph are expected early on Thursday.
The weather will clear up a little bit, but more showers will arrive later in the afternoon and into the evening. However, the bulk of the rain and highest winds will be in the morning.
Once it's all said and done, most of central Ohio will see between 0.75 to 1 inch of rain. The heaviest of the rain will be south of I-70 and those north of I-70 could see less than .5 inch of rain.
Once the system passes late on Thursday, we will see improving weather Friday and into the weekend.
