OHIO, USA — Central Ohio was hit by strong, severe storms in the early hours of Wednesday morning. The storms left behind heavy damage in some parts of the area.

On Westwind Road in Hilliard, trees were toppled over and windows in some vehicles broke because of the storm. A house sustained significant damage as a portion of the home appeared to have been ripped off. The National Weather Service confirmed that an EF1 tornado touched down in Hilliard. Most of the damage occurred in a path north of Roberts Road.
A Tornado Warning was issued in Madison County overnight when the storms moved through the area. Some trucks were knocked over because of the strong winds and large tree branches were blocking the roads.
NWS confirmed an EF1 tornado touched down in Madison County near London. They said the damage occurred along a northeast path and ended just south of West Jefferson. Photos show significant damage to the Madison County Airport due to the storm.
An EF2 tornado touched down in Blacklick and traveled into Jersey, a small town in Licking County. The tornado damaged several homes in its path.
The storm also brought heavy damage to the Wright-Patterson Air Force Base located just outside of Dayton.
Officials will release more details regarding the strength of the tornadoes and wind speeds at a later time.
There are no reports on whether anyone was injured as a result of the storm damage.
As of 11:30 p.m., around 100 AEP Ohio customers are without power.
Several central Ohio school districts were also on a delayed start as the strong winds and flooding became an issue for morning commuters.
