At least 8 cars left with flat tires because of pothole on US-33, Columbus police say

Traffic was backed up on U.S. Route 33 West near the state Route 104 split. Crews arrived just after 8:40 a.m. to fix the pothole.

COLUMBUS, Ohio — At least eight cars were left with flat tires because of a pothole on U.S. Route 33 in southeast Columbus, police said.

Traffic was backed up on U.S. Route 33 West near the state Route 104 split because of the incident. The Columbus Division of Police said eight to 10 cars experienced flat tires.

A spokesperson with the Ohio Department of Transportation said the City of Columbus maintains the interchange of US 33 and SR 104. ODOT maintains all interstates and all state and federal highways outside incorporated municipalities like cities and villages.

“The rebounding temperatures after the last couple weeks of below-freezing temps is exactly the type of freeze/thaw cycle that creates potholes, so motorists should be on the lookout. Our crews will be out pothole patching as needed,” an official with ODOT told 10TV.

Just after 8:40 a.m., crews arrived in the area to repair the pothole.
