COLUMBUS, Ohio — Ohio saw some of Hurricane Beryl's remnants as it pushed into the state throughout the day on Wednesday. The tropical storm descended on Texas Monday morning.

Ohio saw the worst impacts from Beryl Wednesday morning between midnight and 10 a.m.

Strong winds and spotty showers stuck around through much of the morning and into the afternoon before starting to calm down by the evening. A few brief showers and breezy conditions stuck around into Wednesday night before drying out.

The threat of heavy rain and flooding stretched from the Great Lakes to New England and included southern Canada. The storm dumped 3 to 6 inches of rain in northern Indiana.

As Beryl touched down in Texas as a Category 1 hurricane, it unleashed heavy rains and powerful winds, knocking out power to more than two million homes and businesses and flooding streets with fast-rising waters as first responders raced to rescue stranded residents. It has since been downgraded to a tropical storm.

Before that, Beryl had already cut a deadly path through parts of Mexico and the Caribbean

Beryl has been blamed for at least seven U.S. deaths — one in Louisiana and six in Texas — and at least 11 in the Caribbean.
