COLUMBUS, Ohio — Two suspects charged in the shooting death of a gas station clerk in the Franklinton neighborhood were arrested by Columbus police Tuesday night following a police chase.
Abdulwahida Osman, 22, and Darren Christian, 17, were taken into custody after a vehicle pursuit that started on Sullivant and Hague Avenues, according to the Columbus Division of Police. The vehicle, with four occupants inside, was followed by a police helicopter before crashing at Harrisburg Pike and West Mound Street.
The two are charged with murder in connection to the death of 24-year-old Saiesh Veera on April 20.
The fatal shooting happened at the Shell gas station located at 1000 West Broad St. Police said Veera was shot inside the gas station. He was taken to Grant Medical Center and was later pronounced dead.
Records from Franklin County Municipal Court state that forensic evidence linked Osman to a previous charge of discharge into a habitation. Court records also say he appeared to have been involved in a string of robberies in the area.
The case remains under investigation.
