Several school districts delayed start times as dense fog affected morning commute

A dense fog advisory was in effect until 9 a.m. Wednesday.

COLUMBUS, Ohio β€” A Dense Fog Advisory has expired for several central Ohio counties as fog affected morning commutes for drivers in the region.

Several school districts delayed start times by two hours to give time for the fog to clear. The 10 Weather Impact team declared Wednesday morning a Weather Impact Day.

Widespread fog reduced visibility to less than ΒΌ mile in some locations overnight and into Wednesday morning, which made driving difficult where you live (or where you're going).

The primary issue with the fog was that it did not reduce visibility equally across the viewing area. So quickly changing visibilities, from near normal to greatly reduced visibility in dense fog, made driving a challenge in the morning.

The weather then transitions to rain and wind, followed by falling temperatures late Wednesday and into Thursday, leading to Weather Impact Days for Thursday and Friday morning.
