COLUMBUS, Ohio — A Dublin native and former forward for the Ohio State women’s soccer team was selected in the second round of the National Women’s Soccer League draft on Friday.
Emma Sears, a forward who graduated in December 2023, played in 83 soccer matches in more than five seasons. She was also named a three-time All-Big Ten honoree.
In the second round of draft selection, teams were given three minutes to make their selections. Sears was the 28th overall pick, selected by Racing Louisville, and her natural pick was NJ/NY Gotham FC.
Sears is the fifth Buckeye selected in the NWSL draft and the third in the second round.
Among her accomplishments while playing at Ohio State was being just one of four players in the program's history with multiple three-goal games.
Her career honors are as follows:

- Second team All-Big Ten (2021 spring, 2022)

- Academic All-Big Ten (2021 spring, 2021 fall, 2022)

Before her Ohio State soccer career, Sears was a four-year letterwinner and three-year starter at Dublin Jerome High School.
