COLUMBUS, Ohio — The Columbus Crew formally announced Issa Tall as the club's new general manager.
Tall was promoted to the position as former Crew President and GM Tim Bezbatchenko leaves to take a new job with Black Knight Football.
Tall has been with the Crew as assistant general manager of player personnel and strategy since 2019. He was also in charge of the team's scouting, player personnel and analytics process in his previous position.
Since Tall arrived in Columbus, the Crew has won two MLS Cups in the past four seasons (2020 and 2023). The club also won the 2021 Campeones Cup and reached the Concacaf Champions Cup Final this year.
"For me, it's a very proud, proud and exciting moment to be appointed as the new general manager of the Columbus Crew," Tall said, thanking the Crew's leadership and his family to help get him to this position. Tall also thanked Bezbatchenko for his guidance.
Before coming to Columbus, Tall worked at FIFA's headquarters in Switzerland from 2016-19.
During that time, he worked in the Federation's Team Services and Competition Department, which is the group in charge of organizing the World Cup and other FIFA competitions.
Tall also worked in Toronto FC's front office with Bezbatchenko from 2014-15.
