Fans attending events at the Schottenstein Center will have the opportunity to purchase beer and wine during Ohio State athletic events.

Alcohol has been allowed on the club level since 1998, but will now available in the entry and terrace levels of the arena.

The sale of alcohol will be available starting Sunday, Nov. 15 when the men’s basketball team hosts Mount St. Mary’s.

People will also be able to purchase alcohol during women’s basketball and men’s hockey games.

Most students think alcohol at sports venues is a no-brainer.

“It'll definitely bring more guests in I think and it will make more money for the Schott,” student Mitch DeLong said.

Ohio State said this is an extension of the pilot program that established alcohol sales at Ohio Stadium for those in the club and suite levels starting this season.

Now that alcohol will be available throughout all of the Schottenstein Center, could the same come to Ohio Stadium?

“Now that one I feel a little differently about,” student Nick Frankowsi said.  “It’s always been a very family friendly atmosphere.  It's been nice because people actually pay attention to the game.”
