Blue Jackets sign center Cole Sillinger to 2-year contract extension

The extension will keep the 21-year-old center at Nationwide Arena through the 2025-26 season.

COLUMBUS, Ohio — The Columbus Blue Jackets signed Cole Sillinger to a two-year contract extension worth $4.5 million on Wednesday.

The extension will keep the 21-year-old center at Nationwide Arena through the 2025-26 season.
President of Hockey Operations and General Manager Don Waddell described Sillinger as an important part of the present and future of the club.

"Cole Sillinger is a very smart, two-way center who competes extremely hard at both ends of the ice,” said Waddell. “He played over 200 NHL games before turning 21 and is coming off his best season, so we are looking forward to his continued growth as a player."

Sillinger was drafted with the 12th overall pick in the 2021 NHL Draft.

Since then, he's scored 32 goals and 42 assists in 220 career games.

The Columbus native, who grew up in Canada, set single-season career highs in assists, points, penalty minutes and shots on goal last year. He's also the third Blue Jacket in franchise history to record 30 goals before turning 21, joining Rick Nash and Pierre-Luc Dubois.

The season for the Blue Jackets begins Oct. 10 on the road against the Minnesota Wild.
