COLUMBUS, Ohio — Former Ohio State wide receivers Garrett Wilson and Chris Olave are among six finalists for the 2022 Pepsi Zero Sugar NFL Rookie of the Year award.
Wilson and Olave were both selected in the first round of the 2022 NFL Draft, going 10th overall to the New York Jets and 11th overall to New Orleans Saints respectively.
Wilson led all rookies and set rookie franchise records with 83 receptions for 1,103 yards.
He had at least 75 receiving yards in eight games this season, the most games of all rookies. Wilson was one of two rookies to record two receiving touchdowns in more than one game this season.
Olave led all rookies with 69.5 receiving yards per game, ranked second in receiving yards (1,042) and tied for second in receptions (72) in 2022.
He became the third New Orleans rookie ever with at least 1,000 receiving yards, joining Marques Colston and Michael Thomas.
Olave led all rookies with 12 games of 50-or-more receiving yards, tied for the third-most such games ever by a rookie, trailing only Michael Clayton and Terry Glenn.
The other four finalists are cornerback Sauce Gardner (New York Jets), defensive lineman Aidan Hutchinson (Detroit Lions), running back Kenneth Walker (Seattle Seahawks) and cornerback Tariq Woolen (Seattle Seahawks).
During the season, six nominees were chosen for the Pepsi Zero Sugar NFL Rookie of the Week and fans voted for the winner online. Those results were used to determine the finalists.
Fans can go to the NFL’s website to vote until Feb. 3. The winner will announced during Super Bowl week.
