CINCINNATI — Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow gave some high praise for the Buckeye state ahead of his team's primetime matchup on Sunday.
Burrow, who grew up in Athens County, was asked during a press conference on Wednesday what it means to have the national spotlight for the upcoming game and what he loves about Cincinnati.
"It's the people. It's why I love Ohio. The people are great. Down to earth, humble, hard working. Just made of the right stuff," Burrow said. "I love the people here and that's kind of what makes Ohio, Ohio."
The Bengals will host the Buffalo Bills Sunday night at Paycor Stadium. The two played each other in the AFC Divisional round in the 2022 playoffs where the Bengals convincingly won 27-10.
Burrow knows Who Dey nation will bring the energy Sunday night.
"I expect it to be rocking. It's going to be an exciting game. I know the fans are going to come out and do what they do," Burrow said.
The game also comes less than a year after Bills safety Damar Hamlin collapsed on the field at Paycor Stadium during Monday Night Football and required resuscitation.
"Obviously what happened is in this past. I think everybody remembers it but we're not gonna dwell on it. I know he's [Hamlin] not dwelling on it either," Burrow said.
Kickoff for the Bills-Bengals game is scheduled for 8:20 p.m. As of Friday afternoon, the Bengals are -1.5 favorites.
