Chris and Stefanie Spielman’s story comes to life in a new book, 10TV’s Andrea Cambern reported Thursday.
“That’s Why I’m Here,” is a story of devotion to family, faith and a never-ending fight against breast cancer.
With brutal honesty, Spielman shares his obsession with football and describes the way he pulled from his experience on the field to tackle Stefanie’s battle with breast cancer.
Readers are given a front-row seat inside Spielman’s heart and head as he and his family fight Stefanie’s cancer for more than 12 years, Cambern reported.
Chris Spielman wrote the book during the last six months of Stefanie’s life, when the couple knew their journey was almost over.
“I wanted people to understand that it’s not always easy,” Spielman said. “There are great joys in having cancer and horrible letdowns in having cancer, but the whole purpose is even through a diagnosis, re-diagnosis five times over, there is hope and a reason to keep going and keep doing what you’re doing.”
Chris Spielman plans to sign books from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Saturday at the Barnes & Noble on The Ohio State University campus.
A portion of proceeds from the book will go to the Spielman Fund, which has raised more than $10 million for The James Cancer Hospital at Ohio State.
