Lauren Hill, a 19-year-old from Cincinnati who played college basketball after being diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumor, died Friday.
She gained international attention for playing on the Mount St. Joseph team despite losing energy and coordination as her tumor worsened. Hill developed symptoms as a senior in high school and decided to attend the Division III university anyway and play for the team as planned.
After learning about her death, NBA star LeBron James tweeted a series of messages commemorating her life.
