COLUMBUS, Ohio — Ohio State football is back after the team's first bye week of the season. The Buckeyes welcome the Marshall Thundering Herd to town before jumping into Big Ten play next week.

Here's this week's 10 Things To Know:

  1. Ohio State and Marshall have only met twice. The first game, in 2004, was won on a 55-yard field goal by Mike Nugent. The second game, in 2010, was vacated due to NCAA sanctions.
  2. Marshall QB Stone Earle, who transferred from North Texas, passed for 228 yards and three TDs in the Herd's first two games. He's also rushed for 22 yards and a score.
  3. Six points allowed through the first two games is the third-fewest allowed by an Ohio State defense in 75 years.
  4. The Buckeye's defense has allowed an opponent's offense to reach Ohio State territory only four times in 24 series.
  5. Ohio State has already recorded 15 tackles-for-loss and eight sacks this season. 
  6. Safety Lathan Ransom leads the team with 11 tackles. Linebacker Sonny Styles is next with 10.
  7. Wide receiver Emeka Egbuka crossed a significant milestone last week by topping 2,000 career receiving yards.
  8. Freshman wide receiver Jeremiah Smith recorded his first 100-yard game as a receiver in just his second collegiate game. 
  9. Smith is the first freshman in Ohio State history to top 200 total receiving yards after his first two games. He has 211 yards so far.
  10. The running back tandem of TreVeyon Henderson and Quinshon Judkins have combined for 294 yards rushing, good for 7.4 yards a carry.
