COLUMBUS, Ohio — Ohio State center Seth McLaughlin is likely out for the rest of the year after injuring his Achilles tendon, according to multiple reports.
ESPN and The Athletic report that McLaughlin suffered his injury during practice on Tuesday.
McLaughlin was one of the core pieces to an already beaten-up offensive line.
The Buckeyes lost starting left tackle Josh Simmons to a knee injury earlier this year and Donovan Jackson, who normally plays left guard, has slid one spot over to fill the gap. Carson Hinzman has been playing LG in place of Jackson.
McLaughlin, who transferred to Ohio State from Alabama after last season, has been a strength for the offensive line.
McLaughlin was named a finalist for the William V. Campbell Trophy last month. The award goes to the premier scholar-athlete in college football.
The injury could not come at a worse time as the Buckeyes gear up for yet another top 5 matchup on Saturday, this time with Indiana.
