CHICAGO — The Ohio State Buckeyes will be playing their game against the Northwestern Wildcats at Wrigley Field this season.
For all but two games this season, the Wildcats are playing on a temporary field at the university's Evanston campus as Ryan Field undergoes a major construction project. Their two final games against Ohio State and Illinois will be played at Wrigley Field. The new Ryan Field will be ready in 2026.
Ohio State is scheduled to play Northwestern on Nov. 16.
Wrigley Field has been home to the Chicago Cubs for more than a century. The stadium can hold just under 42,000 fans.
Other sites were considered besides Wrigley Field. The Columbus Dispatch reports that Soldier Field was a consideration, but there was a potential scheduling conflict with the Chicago Bears. A soccer stadium in south Chicago was also considered.
This isn't the first time Northwestern has played at Wrigley Field. The Wildcats played there against Purdue in 2021 and Iowa last season.
The Bears played at Wrigley Field from 1921-70 before moving to Soldier Field.
