COLUMBUS, Ohio — Ohio State offensive lineman Matt Jones announced he would be returning to the Buckeyes for a sixth season in 2023.
Jones posted the announcement to Twitter on Wednesday morning.
"Although I have dreams and aspirations to play in the NFL, my college chapter does not close here," Jones wrote. "I have unfinished business to take care of."
The news of Jones' return is welcoming news for Ohio State after other departures from the offensive line. Paris Johnson Jr. and Luke Wypler both announced earlier this week they would be entering the NFL Draft.
After redshirting his first year, Jones played sparingly in 2019 and worked his way into a backup role and filling in when needed the past two seasons.
In 2022, Jones started in 12 games at right guard only missing the Michigan game with an injury.
