COLUMBUS, Ohio — Ohio State receiver Emeka Egbuka will not play in Saturday's game against Purdue after suffering an injury last week against Maryland.
After arriving in West Lafayette, head coach Ryan Day told reporters that Egbuka did not make the trip with the team. Day said his absence from the game will be confirmed tomorrow in the injury report list released before the game.
He did not specify who will fill his slot, but ensures that they "have plenty of guys in there that'll do a great job."
Egbuka left the Maryland game with an apparent knee injury in the fourth quarter and didn't return. The injury isn't expected to keep Egbuka sidelined for a long stretch, Day said Tuesday.
Egbuka, a 1,000-yard receiver last year, has 22 catches for 303 yards and three touchdowns.
Ohio State holds a 40-15-2 edge in the all-time series vs. Purdue. The two teams did not play last season, but in their last meeting two seasons ago, Ohio State jumped out to a 45-17 halftime lead and won 59-31 at Ohio Stadium.
The Buckeyes face off against Purdue at noon on Saturday. Tune into Game Time with Ryan Day before the game at 9 a.m. on 10TV.
