COLUMBUS, Ohio — Ohio State wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr. officially announced he will be entering his name in the 2024 NFL Draft.
Harrison made the announcement on social media Thursday afternoon.
“To Buckeye Nation, the love I received from you all in the Shoe and on the road will be moments I cherish forever, and I hope I left lasting memories for you on the field,” Harrison wrote.
The junior was easily the team's best WR, recording 67 catches for 1,211 yards and 14 total touchdowns for the 2023 season. The year before, he had 77 catches for 1,263 yards and 14 touchdowns.
Harrison’s overall numbers lag behind some of the other star receivers around the country, but he was the most consistent threat for a Buckeyes offense that was breaking in a new starting quarterback and dealt with injuries to its supporting cast all season.
Harrison was nominated as the only wide receiver for the Heisman Trophy award.
For the second straight year, Harrison Jr. was named a finalist for the Biletnikoff award, which is given to the nation's top receiver each year. He won the award this year.
He also set a record this year by becoming the first Buckeye in program history to have 15 100-yard receiving games.
Harrison opted out of playing in the Cotton Bowl. He wore his No. 18 jersey over a black hoodie when he ran out on the field with his Buckeyes teammates before the 14-3 loss to No. 9 Missouri. He immediately went to the sideline and picked up a football, and held on to it throughout the game.
“Marvin’s been a pro ever since he stepped in our building,” coach Ryan Day said the day before the Cotton Bowl, when asked about Harrison's legacy whenever he does leave Ohio State. “Everyone wants to talk about his dad and everything like that. But Marvin is his own own man and he had big shoes to fill, he's got his father’s name. But from the minute he stepped in our building, you knew that he was going to be a pro."
Harrison is considered the draft's second-best prospect, according to ESPN analyst Mel Kiper Jr.
