COLUMBUS, Ohio — We've made it to November football and the Buckeyes are sitting atop the College Football Playoff rankings for the first time since 2019. Of course, it doesn't mean much right now when the goal is to be there at the end of the season and win a National Championship.
But first, Ohio State needs to take care of business on the road against Rutgers.
Here's this week's 10 Things To Know:
- Saturday's game between Ohio State and Rutgers will be the 10th consecutive year the two schools have played. That streak will end next year, but they will play again in 2025.
- The Buckeyes have not lost to the Scarlet Knights and hold a 9-0 advantage in the all-time series.
- Ohio State has averaged 51.8 points in the series and 53.2 points per game in the four games played at Rutgers.
- The Buckeyes' defense has not allowed a play longer than 40 yards this season. Only one other team can say that this season: Rutgers.
- Marvin Harrison Jr. is seeking to become the first Buckeye to have two 1,000-yard seasons. He's currently sitting at 889 yards.
- Rutgers head coach Greg Schiano was Ohio State's defensive coordinator from 2016-2018. During that time, he coached 10 players who were NFL Draft picks.
- A win Saturday would mark the first time Ohio State started with 10 straight wins against a single opponent.
- Ohio State's defense is allowing just 160 passing yards a game (4th nationally) and just 10 points a game (2nd).
- Cornerback Denzel Burke leads the Big Ten with 10 total passes defended (nine pass break ups, one interception).
- Last Saturday's victory against Wisconsin was Ohio State's first three turnover day since 2020 against Indiana.
