It was a historic night Saturday for Capital University in south Bexley when the Crusaders played their first ever night football game under the lights.
Capital University says at least three thousand fans attended the game.
"I think a lot of people are out tonight because it's something exciting, it's different, it's new,” said Crusaders fan Kortney Doss.
Not everyone was excited. The South Bexley Neighborhood Association has expressed serious concerns that the lights and noise coming from Bernlohr Stadium would disturb neighbors.
Dave Woodyard lives just down the street. He says he feels the university worked to reach a compromise with neighbors by investing in more expensive stadium lights with LED technology, but some neighbors are still concerned.
“A lot of people go to bed early. They have kids that go to bed at 8 or 9,” said Woodyard.
10TV observed many neighbors back yards are located directly across the alley from the football field, but the yards remained dark despite the lights illuminating the football field.
“You can't even tell the lights are on when you walk past it in the evening,” said Woodyard.
One parent who brought his children to watch the game through the fence says the noise doesn’t bother his family, who lives a couple of blocks away, but says if anyone next door to the stadium had their windows open the noise would be disruptive.
"Night football has a great vibe to it so I can't say that I mind,” said Christian Niswander.
The Capital Crusaders beat Muskingum with a final score of 34-31.
