COLUMBUS, Ohio — Ohio State basketball players Jacy Sheldon and Cotie McMahon were named regional finalists Tuesday in the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association’s Coaches All-America Team.

This is not the first time the players have been up for honors this year.

Just last week, graduate guard Sheldon was named to the AP All-America Second Team, USBWA All-America Third Team and the Sports News Women’s All-America Second Team. She was also chosen as the media choice for All-Big Ten Defensive Team.

Sheldon earned All-Big Ten First Team honors from the coaches and media this season. Ohio State also gifted her with the sportsmanship award, and she is one of five finalists for the Nancy Lieberman Award and one of 10 for the Naismith Trophy.

Sheldon ranks in the top 10 in the Big Ten in five categories, including scoring, steals/game, free throw percentage, field goal percentage, assist/turnover ratio. She ranks sixth in program history with 2,024 career points.

McMahon, a sophomore forward, was named AP and USBWA All-American Honorable Mention. She is also one of five finalists for the Cheryl Miller Award and was selected by the Big Ten coaches and media to the All-Big Ten First Team.

She averaged 14.4 points per game and though she has only recorded two collegiate seasons so far, she has 1,005 career points and 400 career rebounds.

The Buckeyes’ successful season came to an end on March 24 after they lost to Duke 75-63 in the Second Round NCAA Tournament. McMahon ended the game with 27 points and, Sheldon, the other two-digit scorer, earned 13 points in the last game of her collegiate career.
