Kristyn Hartman will join Jerry Revish as the primary anchor team for 10TV News, WBNS-10TV president and general manager Tom Griesdorn announced Friday.
Hartman will continue the legacy of 10TV's Andrea Cambern, who will be leaving the anchor desk in May. She will debut on 10TV News at 5 p.m. on June 4.
Hartman comes to WBNS-TV from WBBM-TV in Chicago, where she has served as anchor and reporter for CBS2 News for the past 7 years.
Prior to WBBM, Hartman anchored the news at WCCB-TV (FOX Charlotte) in Charlotte, N.C. She also worked at stations in Joplin, Mo., Peoria, Ill. and Phoenix.
A fierce champion for community service, Hartman has spent much of her time out of the studio furthering the causes of cancer research, education, prevention and support. In 2008 & 2009, showing her support for "Habitat for Humanity," Kristyn helped build a house for a family in need.
In 2006, Hartman ran the Chicago Marathon in support of a "Team in Training" group supporting a young man in his fight against leukemia.
Hartman has enjoyed reading to students at various elementary schools and she also spent time at colleges teaching a broadcast reporting and producing class at her alma mater, Northwestern University and speaking occasionally at DePaul University.
"The values of strong journalism, community service, and quality local television have been passions of mine throughout my career," Hartman said. "When the opportunity came to join WBNS-10TV, I knew that there are few stations in the country that have the level of commitment to these values that 10TV has. I can't wait to make central Ohio my new home and continue an amazing legacy."
"Kristyn embodies everything that was important to us in our search for a new anchor," Griesdorn said. "An affinity for local news, a desire to impact change in her community, and a personality that will be a leader in our newsroom and a delight for our viewers."
Hartman comes to Columbus with her husband, Chris, and their prized mutt, Roxy.
WBNS-10TV is a member of The Dispatch Broadcast Group, which also includes WBNS-AM/FM, Ohio News Network and Radio Sound Network in Columbus; WTHR-TV and SkyTrak Weather Network in Indianapolis.
