CNN - The amazing videos show two kayakers riding over a waterfall in Kentucky went viral and now those kayakers are getting cited for trespassing.

The videos capture the scene that unfolded Saturday afternoon. Dozens watched as professional kayakers Nick Troutman and Dane Jackson plummeted over the Cumberland Falls.

"We were super intrigued by the falls and we went there, scouted it out and set up our safety plan,” Troutman said.

The two men captured their rides on camera and are receiving thousands of views on social media.

They say it was a ride that was the result of hours of training and 15 years in the sport for Troutman.

Here is my GoPro point of view from running Cumberland Falls. I hit the line exactly how I had planned and couldn't of been happier. We did end up getting a fine from the Park Ranger, though he was good mannered about the situation. Fired up for another great line. Jackson Kayak adidas Outdoor Werner Paddles

"We did not expect the video to go viral,” he said. “We did not expect people necessarily to even be there watching it…it was more just a personal goal that we had set."

However, achieving that personal goal potentially costs them a couple hundred dollars after being cited for trespassing.

"It’s marked no swimming, wading, or boating in that area," Park ranger Capt. Dallas Luttrell said.

Park rangers out at Cumberland Falls say those rules are in place for a reason and doing what is seen in the videos is strongly discouraged.

"It’s quite dangerous for the people participating in that type of activity as well as our rangers and the other first responders that would have to respond,” Luttrell said.

While Troutman says they are disappointed they were cited, they do understand why those rules are in place.

Pretty stoked to have sent Cumberland Falls! Bummed that it ended in getting charged with trespassing, but its still an epic waterfall and one of my new favorites! And remember folks, we had safety set, this is what we do.GoPro RedBull.com Adventure Kokatat Werner Paddles Jackson Kayak

"I wouldn't encourage any bystander just watching to go out and give it a shot," Troutman said.

A fulfilling ride for the two athletes; something they say they hope to be able to do again legally.

"Hopefully maybe we can apply for a permit or something like that in the future because it truly is a really beautiful waterfall," Troutman said.
