Those issues came up at a village council meeting following the paper's publication, and justhours later, vandals damaged her home.

"It would be very coincidental for this to be random, to happen right on this day," Spradlinsaid. "I immediately felt that it was political.  My first and immediate gut reaction was thisis some horrendous payback."

Mount Sterling police took photos of the damage but no arrests have been made.

Spradlin said the cleanup is estimated is more than $8,000. She said the attack will not costthe people of Mount Sterling a council member who speaks her mind.
