Investigators released more information on Tuesday in the slayings of three people from KnoxCounty and the kidnapping of a 13-year-old girl.

Prosecutors told Matthew Hoffman that they would not seek the death penalty if he led them tothe bodies of Tina Herrmann, 32; her son, Kody Maynard, 11; and family friend, Stephanie Sprang,41.

The three were killed on Nov. 10 at Herrmann's King Beach Drive home, but their bodies were notfound until Nov. 18, after an intense search that made national headlines.

Thousands of pages of documents and dozens of DVDs were released on Tuesday, revealing newdetails about the case and investigation, 10TV's Maureen Kocot reported.

Investigators released disturbing images of the sole survivor of the crime, a 13-year-old girlwho was taken from her home and held in a crawl space in Hoffman's basement.  Hoffman kept thegirl tied up and in his confession revealed that he told her he was holding her for ransom and thatshe would be home by Christmas, Kocot reported.

The video also showed the girl's makeshift bed in the basement, which was a pile of leavescovered in blankets.

"I'm still really saddened by the whole thing," said Knox County prosecutor John Thatcher. "Thisis the worst thing I've ever heard happening anywhere, and I wish it had never happened."

Documents released on Wednesday revealed that after his arrest, Hoffman told investigators thathe was a "monster" who could not live with what he had done and just wanted to die.

Video also captured conversations between Hoffman and investigators who were trying to find outwhere the three bodies were hidden.

"I was hoping I could make up some excuse for you guys to kill me, you know, escape," Hoffmansaid.

"What does all this have to do with you not telling us where they are?" one of the investigatorsasked.

Hoffman eventually led authorities to a hollow tree near Fredericktown where he put theremains.

Hoffman was sentenced to life in prison on Jan. 6 after pleading guilty.

He faced a total of 10 counts, including aggravated murder, gross abuse of a corpse, burglary, kidnapping and raping the teenage girl.
