An Ohio State Highway Patrol trooper was off the job on Friday after having improper conductwith a woman he met while working.
Kamal Nelson was fired after admitting to using his position with the patrol to start arelationship with a woman, 10TV's Tanisha Mallett reported.
In October 2009, Nelson, a trooper with the Marion post, responded to a crash involving twodrivers.
One of the drivers, a 27-year-old woman, was being followed by her mother, who according to theincident report, told troopers she saw the collision.
The woman, who 10TV is not identifying, is listed as a witness on the crash report.
Investigators said that Nelson took the woman's cell phone number because he said he needed toinvestigate further but documents obtained by 10TV revealed a different motivation.
"Trooper Nelson called several times after the date of the crash under the presumption ofgathering information to complete the report," OHP documents stated.
They also revealed that the trooper frequently stopped by a business owned by the woman and herhusband.
"Sometime in June 2010, Trooper Nelson's wife and her mother stopped into the place ofbusiness and made accusations regarding an alleged relationship," a document stated.
Phone records showed that Nelson and the woman talked often.
Investigators said Nelson admitted that while on duty he visited, hugged and kissed thewoman.
The woman's husband was the person who reported the inappropriate conduct to the commander ofthe Marion post.
