A tow truck driver is dead after he was hit by a car.
It happened Monday around 9:30 p.m. on State Route 104 near Lockbourne Road in southeast Columbus.
Columbus Police say three cars were parked on the side of S.R. 104 as 59-year-old John A. Carpenter prepared to tow one of them.
That is when another car lost control and hit Carpenter, his tow truck and the other three cars parked on the side of the road.
Carpenter died from his injuries.
The driver who lost control was transported to Grant Medical Center and is in police custody. So far, no charges have been filed.
The road was closed for several hours as detectives investigated.
