Time Warner Announces Channels For Big Ten Network

After more than a year of negotiations, Time Warner Cable and the Big Ten Network finallyreached an agreement to show the cable channel.

The announcement was made Monday night in a statement released by both parties.

The Big Ten Network will broadcast Ohio State's season opener on Saturday against YoungstownState, and the Sept. 20 game against Troy.  The game will be carried on Time Warner channel 24and Channel 757 for high-definition subscribers.

The network will also televise an Ohio State Big Ten Conference game, which has yet to bereleased.

All Time Warner customers will be able to watch Saturday's game against Youngstown State. Atsome point after Saturday's game, customers will need to be subscribed to Time Warner'sstandard cable service to get the Big Ten Network.

Time Warner and the Big Ten Network reached a stalemate in the Big Ten Network's first year onthe air, prohibiting much of central Ohio to receive Ohio State athletics, including its two topmoneymakers, football and men's basketball.

The agreement between Time Warner Cable and the Big Ten Network came days after both sidesreleased statements criticizing the other's inability to strike a deal.

In a letter sent last week to Buckeye fans, Ohio State Athletic Director Gene Smithurged Time Warner customers to dump the cable channel for another provider that had already secureda contract with the Big Ten Network.

Time Warner responded by offering to show Ohio State games airing on the Big Ten Network on apay-per-view basis. The deal was rejected by the Big Ten Network, who called the offer a "publicitystunt."
