Ross County Cleans Up After Level 3 Snow Emergency

Plow truck drivers worked overtime overnight and into the morning to clear snow.

Even a snow emergency, didn't stop Teri Brown from making sure her six year old son Casey could enjoy the first big snowfall.

Brown ventured out, making a quick shopping trip to Kmart.

“He needed  snow boots, his are too small,” Brown said.

Lucky for  Brown, at that point plow trucks had been hard at work.

And by noon that Level 3 snow emergency turned to a Level 2.

Blair Torchick, who owns Tibercreek Lawncare, started at 5 p.m. Friday, working 15 hours nonstop trying to keep up with the falling snow.

“It's consistent , it'll ease up like it is now but then it comes out strong. We've plowed this lot 3 times since last night,” Torchick said.

To help plow the 30 businesses he services in Chillicothe, Torchick called in his son and daughter to clear the lots.

Weekend Winter Storm: Snow Ends Saturday But Cloudy Skies Stay

“She liked the plow truck until we got the Bobcat. She and her brother fought over the Bobcat and she lost,” he said.

The employees at Tim Hortons on Bridge Street said when they came in at 5 a.m. the road conditions were rough. But by the afternoon the plows made the main route passable.

“My side street is terrible. It's a skinny street so I don't think they get a plow down there,” Brown said.

They’re problems that come with every big snowfall but not for everyone.

“I’m a little tired, but when those checks come in the mail it's worth it,” Torchick said.

Brown said, she and Casey will make the best of it.

“Guess we're just going to play in the snow all weekend,” Brown said.

Equipped and ready with new, warm boots, Casey said he’s looking forward to doing his favorite things in the snow, “snowball fights, making snow angels and building a snowman.”
