Pike County Commissioners were considering changes to the county's dog pound following allegations that the warden put puppies in a garbage bag, 10TV News reported on Thursday.
Commissioners were discussing a plan to put the Pike County Dog Pound under the oversight of the Pike County Sheriff's Office.
In addition, the county would contract a veterinarian to handle euthanizations.
Pike County Dog Warden Randy Mustard currently faces 11 counts of animal cruelty.
Prosecutors said that the warden tried to euthanize puppies, and when that did not work, he placed them in a garbage bag behind the pound.
The pound also came under scrutiny in 2008 when the county's assistant dog warden pleaded guilty to animal cruelty, 10TV News Reported.
