Some food producers believe bacon prices could spike because of global shortages of pork.

In the United Kingdom, there is concern that higher corn and soybean prices have increased feed prices which has led farmers to thin their pig population, according to CBS News.

Some U.S. farmers recently started reducing their herds because of feed costs caused by drought in the Midwest.

Even though ham and other pork prices could climb by 10 percent by next summer, U.S. experts said the problem will be worse in Europe.

Still, experts recommend buying pork now and stocking your freezer if possible.

The news coincides with other food prices that are going up.

In the past year, the cost of beef has increased and the price of eggs has gone up three percent.
