Here's what Franklin County residents need to know before voting on Election Day

The Franklin County Board of Elections said that 890,000 people are registered to vote in the presidential election.

FRANKLIN COUNTY, Ohio — We're now less than two months away from the presidential election on Nov. 5. The Franklin County Board of Elections is reporting that 890,000 people are registered to vote so far in the county.

If you want to vote in this year's election, you need to be registered by Oct. 7. Early voting starts on Oct. 8 and this is when the board of elections will also mail absentee ballots. 70,000 people have requested an absentee ballot so far in the county.

As we get closer to Election Day, the board of elections will release sample ballots to their website. It's recommended you look at it before voting as officials say that the ballots in Franklin County will be two pages and there are over 1,000 versions.

"The faster you can get in, get out so that we can get other voters to get processed because presidential cycles by far are the biggest turnout," Aaron Sellers with the Franklin County Board of Elections said. "I believe in 2020 Franklin county we had about, I think it was like almost 72% turnout, which is very high."

There will be 302 voting locations across the county and Sellers said there were three location changes. If your location was changed, you would be notified by mail. The board has also started meeting with authorities to make sure those locations are secure.

Approximately 3,100 poll workers have already been placed out of the 5,200 needed on election day; 50% are Democrats and the other 50% are Republicans. They will start their training on Sept. 18. Sellers said everything is done in bipartisan teams during the election process.

"We have specific rooms in this office that can't be accessed by a single person." Sellers said, "There's not one thing that's done in the process that's not done in a bipartisan way and it's a checks and balance."
