Police Identify, Arrest Suspect In String Of Upper Arlington Armed Robberies

Investigators say a 22-year-old man is responsible for robbing several Upper Arlington businesses at gunpoint.

Police said on Saturday that a man suspected in a string of armed robberieshas been arrested.

Michael Stechison was taken into custody without incident on Friday night, 10TV Newsreported.

Stechison, 22, is believed to have robbed three Upper Arlington businesses over the last fewweeks and investigators are looking into the possibility he is behind others too.

The first robbery happened April 30 at a Starbucks, located on Henderson Road.  Then, lessthan a week later, the Graeter's Ice Cream store was robbed on May 5. 

A man walked into the store on Lane Avenue and demanded money, police said. After he ran off,nearby Upper Arlington High School was briefly locked down.

Investigators think that Stechison also robbed a Caribou Coffee store on May 12, again holdingan employee at gunpoint and demanding money.

According to an Upper Arlington yearbook, Stechison graduated from UAHS in 2007, with plans toattend the Columbus College of Art and Design.
