Activities ranging from Easter egg hunts to Little League baseball games were put on hold onThursday after powerful storms ripped through the Mound City Baseball Park.

Rather than baseballs, volunteers are picking up bricks, trying to cleanup after two dugoutswere destroyed, 10TV's Karina Nova reported.

"The light that was sitting right here flew back and landed in the net. From the net, to thefence, even the bleachers," said league chairman Tyler Vanvelzor. "Theses bleachers here were upagainst this fence here. U can see where the cross members are hanging there."

The girl's softball fields also sustained damage.  The wind was so strong that it pulled adugout out of the ground, Nova reported.

Community members are coming together to help repair the field so an entire season is notlost.

"I heard about getting destroyed from the storm," said volunteer Brandon Starcher. "I like kidsand I like baseball so I decide to come down to put my hands to work, help out a bit."

Because of the damage, a baseball tournament has already been delayed and the annual Easter egghunt was canceled.

Organizers said it will cost thousands of dollars to fix the damage and hope community membersand businesses will step up to the plate.

The opening day is scheduled for May 7 and hope to everything repaired in time.
