DALLAS — Officials with Dallas Fire-Rescue, the Dallas Police Department and the Game Warden's Office have recovered the body of a father and son who never resurfaced from a creek Saturday afternoon.
According to police, DFR responded to a water rescue near 2779 Mountain Creek Parkway, near Mountain Creek Lake, around 1:37 p.m.
Police said the child was reportedly swept under while fishing in a creek in the area, and his father jumped in to rescue him but was also swept under. Neither of them resurfaced, police said.
According to police, the three agencies worked together and found the father dead around 5 p.m. He was later identified as 26-year-old Fernando Carlos.
Police said the man's body was given to the Medical Examiner which will confirm the identity and cause of death.
The search for the child was halted due to light conditions Saturday night and resumed Sunday morning with Dallas PD's Dive Team, police said.
The Texas Parks and Wildlife Department told WFAA they recovered the child's body on Sunday afternoon.
The family identified the boy as 6-year-old Noah Carlos Sunday night to WFAA. They said he loved music, dancing, and playing Fortnite.
They also told WFAA Fernando was his mother's sole caretaker, in addition to providing for his children. He leaves behind two girls, they said, five and nine years old.
There is a GoFundMe created to help support their surviving family. You can access it here.
