Ohio's replica of the Liberty Bell is back at the Statehouse and on display after it was moved during the building's restoration.

According to the advisory board that oversees the Capitol, the Ohio bell is one of 55, full-size replicas produced in 1950 and given to the states and U.S. territories. The bells were commissioned by the U.S. Treasury Department and used to promote a savings bond drive.

The replica was moved to the Ohio History Center while the Statehouse was being restored. It's now on display in the Museum Gallery.

William Carleton, the executive director of the Capitol Square Review and Advisory Board, says he's happy the piece has returned to the Statehouse, where it can remind visitors of the Founding Fathers' legacy of liberty, freedom and democratic ideals.
