The Ohio SPCA and members of the Humane Society removed approximately 70 dogs and cats from two locations this past weekend.
Bluffton police officers found conditions on the exterior of TLU Rescue to be concerning.
Police visited the rescue operator’s home where they discovered animals living in unsanitary conditions.
Ohio SPCA removed 18 dogs from the residence.
The following day, crews visited TLU Rescue removed all dogs and cats from the facility.
“Conditions inside the TLU Rescue facility were beyond horrific,” Teresa Landon, Ohio SPCA Executive Director said.
The animals were stacked in metal cages and forced to live in their own waste according to the Ohio SPCA.
They added many of the animals need medical care for infections and severe dental disease. One dog could not be saved.
The animals were transported to the Ohio SPCA & Humane Society Adoption Center in Lima.
