Ohio Shifting Appliance Rebate Money

The state says it is shifting rebate funds left over so more consumers can use them on the most popular items. Get the latest.

For consumers who missed the first wave of appliance rebates, the state is shifting money to themost popular items, officials said on Wednesday.

The cash for appliances program offered rebates on dishwashers, refrigerators, washing machinesand water heaters, but the money allotted for the most popular items quickly ran out, 10TV Newsreported.

The state said it will shift the money remaining for other energy efficient purchases to be usedfor the most popular items, including refrigerators, washing machines and dishwashers.

"The remaining funds for refrigerators, washers and dishwashers, we encourage customers to goahead and put themselves on that waiting list," said Sears manager Vince Donnelly.

There was about $400,000 left for electric heat pumps and water heaters and about $1 millionleft for high-efficiency gas water heaters as of last week, officials said.

To get the rebate, you need to mail in your redemption form, your original receipt and proof ofrecycling.
