Northland High School Lockdown Lifted; Shots Fired In Area

Police are searching for a person who may have fired shots in the area of Northland High School. Get the story.

Northland High School was placed on lockdown Tuesday morning after reports of a gunshot in the area.

The lockdown was lifted at about 9:30 a.m.

An administrator reported hearing a gunshot on his way to work Tuesday morning.

That worker called police, who placed the school on lockdown around 7:30 a.m.

Columbus Police said one student reported hearing a young man threatening to shut down the school, then firing a shot into the air outside the building. 

Police said that the male, who is no older than 18, has not been located.

Officers set up a 1-mile perimeter around the school to search for that suspect.

Students were asked to stay inside the building during the search.
