A National Guard recruit died Monday after collapsing during training at Camp Lazarus in Delaware.
Josh O'Bannon was transported to Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus on Sunday to betreated for heat exhaustion, 10TV's Maureen Kocot reported.
He died Monday morning.
O'Bannon, 23, collapsed while taking part in Warrior Challenge training, Kocot reported.
O'Bannon's family told 10TV News that he fell about 100 yards from a finish line and wascarried the remaining distance by fellow recruits.
The training exercise was held along a two-mile obstacle course that included a 15-footwall.
Recruits scaled the wall before tackling other uphill and downhill challenges. The course wascompleted while wearing a rucksack filled with 10 pounds of sand, Kocot reported.
O'Bannon, who was raised in Columbus, attended Robert Morris University near Pittsburgh wherehe played football.
He was slated to graduate in May.
An autopsy to determine an exact cause of death was scheduled for Tuesday, Kocotreported.
