Western Michigan football stadium floods following overnight rain

The facilities management team has already started to get the water off the field and will let most of it drain naturally.

KALAMAZOO, Mich. (WOOD) - After heavy rainfall overnight in Kalamazoo, the Western Michigan University football field is underwater.

The facilities management team has already started to get the water off the field and will let most of it drain naturally.

According to the university’s athletic website, Waldo Stadium has been the home of Western Michigan football since 1939. The playing surface has been FieldTurf since 2006.

The National Weather Service issued a flood advisory for the area until 11 a.m. Friday.
